Why Choose Our Primary School in Auckland, New Zealand?

Our Primary School in Karaka, South Auckland provides a holistic approach to education, developing a wide range of skills in academics, sports and the arts alongside a lifelong passion for learning. The Cambridge International Primary Programme forms the basis of our Primary School education, which is designed to provide foundations for learning that are globally relevant and valid anywhere in the world. We aim to establish a strong foundation for your child’s future education, focusing on developing basic skills in literacy, numeracy, and collaborative learning.

Throughout the Primary years, class sizes are limited. In Years 0 to 1, classes are limited to 20 students. This gives teachers time to help each child individually and effectively extend their learning in the crucial first years of Primary School.

With a Primary education from ACG Strathallan, children aged 5 to 11 will be thoroughly prepared to excel at College, as the knowledge and thinking skills they develop during their time here will ensure that their transition to the next stage of their educational journey is smooth and successful.

South Auckland Primary School programme

Primary School Programme

Our core curriculum is the Cambridge International Programme, which is uniquely combined with the New Zealand curriculum to provide the best possible learning outcomes. Our courses are differentiated and individualised to meet each pupil's needs, and teachers identify the unique strengths of their students in order to nurture talent and provide targeted support that ensures progress. Moving through Primary School, the curriculum is designed not only to build knowledge, but to develop high-order thinking skills, nurture curiosity, and instil a lasting passion for learning.

The daily timetable is organised into four even blocks, resulting in twenty periods over a week. Almost half of the classroom learning time is spent on literacy development (English), and a further quarter on numeracy skills (mathematics). Reading will have an initial emphasis on phonics, using the Jolly Phonics Programme. Students also benefit from specialist teaching in other academic subjects, sports and the arts.

Primary students learn about the world they live in and their responsibilities to their community and the environment.
