The Education Review Office (ERO) is the government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of children and young people in early childhood services and schools.

ERO last reported on ACG Strathallan in 2021.

Here are some of the highlights from the most recent ERO report:

Specialist primary school teachers

The primary school curriculum suitably blends The New Zealand Curriculum and the Cambridge International Primary programmes. There is a deliberate, well-chosen focus on literacy, mathematics and collaborative learning in the primary school.

Specialised teaching is offered in the arts, science, languages (Spanish and Mandarin), and technology. Students appreciate and value the opportunities to engage in challenging learning that extends their thinking.

Amazing support for college students

The college’s curriculum in Years 7 to 15 continues to extend students through specialised learning subjects. The senior school continues to offer qualifications through the Cambridge International Examinations for the majority of students. Students’ individual academic pathways are carefully planned to support them, including ongoing career guidance. The school is continuing to broaden pathways to respond to student interests.

Students with identified additional learning needs are supported through well-considered tuition and suitable staffing

Students appreciate the wider curriculum available through additional groups, sports and activities. These also offer students a wide range of leadership opportunities.

Great pastoral care

School leaders regularly monitor provision of students’ academic progress and pastoral care. Students are involved at all levels of school life and enjoy the community and its resources for learning.

They are able to become involved in a wide range of recreational and cultural pursuits. Many students receive specialised tuition and guidance to enter their preferred tertiary courses in New Zealand and abroad.
