Papakura local Anna Ruwhiu couldn't be happier about her new role as ACG Strathallan's enrolment manager – and she can't wait to connect with families and immerse herself in the school community.
With her warm and welcoming approach, Anna is an expert at putting people at ease as she helps families navigate the application process. Additionally, her extensive background in the media and marketing industries ensures that the communications dynamo is in constant contact with all new and prospective parents, providing regular updates at each and every stage.
Anna, what attracted you to the enrolments manager position at ACG Strathallan?
Having grown up in Papakura, I knew Strathallan by reputation and working for a prestigious school in such a beautiful location really appealed to me. I'm very much looking forward to connecting with families and getting more involved in the local community.
I'm also excited to show new families and students everything that ACG Strathallan has to offer.
In your view, what's the best thing about ACG Strathallan?
I like that there is more to ACG Strathallan than just academic success. With such a motivating and positive environment, it's a school that focuses on maximising each students' academic potential while also developing well-rounded and passionate young people who can go out into the world and make a difference.
I can tell that all students are valued as individuals and that the school invests in its people and attracts talented, inspiring teachers who can bring out the best in each child.
Can you briefly explain your role in connecting with prospective families?
Finding the right school can feel overwhelming, so it's important to have someone in my position to guide families through the process and answer any and all questions. It's my job to be an expert and be a friendly, reassuring face that families and students can rely on throughout the enrolment process.
What can we expect to see from you in the coming school year?
I'll be out and about greeting new students and parents as they arrive on campus, making sure everyone feels supported. You'll also find me at the Open Days and student orientations introducing families to our school.
What about outside of ACG Strathallan?
I am a new mum to a gorgeous (I'm biased, but he is!) 6-month-old son. I love spending time with my family, going to the beach, reading a good book and enjoying a strong cup of tea.
How do you think friends and family would describe you?
Reliable, creative, optimistic, hardworking and kind.
Any advice for new students?
One of my favourite authors, Roald Dahl, says it best: "If you find something you are interested in, no matter what it is, go at it full speed, embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it." I think ACG Strathallan will give every child the opportunity to find that "something" to be passionate and excited about in 2022.
